Not to mention the price point is a little high for the current features. RFC4D is nice but it’s limited and pretty slow in comparison to RF2015 and Houdini.

To be perfectly honest, if you want good fluid simulation for your projects just buy Houdini Indie and learn that aspect of the software. In the full application there is dyverso domain interactions, you can use the relationship editor to control things like object interaction and assigning daemons to specific domains. The limitations could be an issue but they may fix that in the next version. It’s buggy at the moment too but they’ll work the kinks out eventually. I think they did a decent job with the C4d integration but while trying to make it act like X-Particles it’s not as friendly to use as XP. For most fluidy things I’ll stick to the main RF application since it’s much faster and over all easier to work with. I think it’s handy to have if you need some basic fluids in your scene but nothing too major. I do have both, the C4d plugin was included since I still have an active maintenance on RF2015. You’re not recording a slow motion clip at 30 frames so you can’t expect a 30 fps simulation to play back properly in slow motion. Maybe somebody could correct me if I’m wrong but that’s the way I understand it after looking into the subject.Ībout the water balloon: Think of recording that popping balloon at 150 frames per second as simulating at 150 frames per second. In RF you can always take a high fps clip and play it back at a lower FPS quicker but you can’t do the opposite unless it’s in post. I would get used to thinking about how long you want the simulation to last, pick your FPS and give the scene enough frames and then start simulating. Time scale is tricky since it takes a lot of tweaking to get things looking right so I wouldn’t suggest using that. There is no “convert to slow motion” in Realflow as far as I know. If you have a simulation right now you really like and don’t want to resim at a different FPS then you’ll need to do what I suggested and use a plugin to fake it. So yes, the simulation will be different. It just simulates it totally at that new FPS. It doesn’t take a simulation and add substeps making it slower. It does the same thing as Cinema4d’s project FPS setting. The FPS setting in Realflow doesn’t do what you are expecting.
